Britons love biscuits!

It seems that Britons just can't resist the ritualistic nature of a cup of tea and a biscuit.
86% of us indulge in a biscuit or two, with with the favourite biscuits being half chocolate coated - 53% of us have bought this type over the past year. 42% have bought cookies and cream biscuits such as bourbons or custard creams come a close third with 39% of us purchasing them. Wholemeal biscuits such as hob nobs are in fourth place (36%) and Rich tea biscuits are bringing up the rear in fifth place (34%).
This year, the biscuits, cookies and crackers market is set to reach £2.3 billion, having increased by 18% between 2005-2010. Sweet biscuits will account for 83% of the sector in the next five years but sales of savoury biscuits are also expected to grow by around 12% by 2015. Lower fat biscuits have also seen a growth increase of 15% between 2008 and 2010.
