Home bakers beat the recession

Britain is in the midst of a home baking surge according to a recent report published by Mintel.
The survey of 2000 adults revealed that 28% of adults bake their favourite childhood treats, including Victoria sponge and cupcakes at least once a week with 52% of home cooks using the internet to gather inspiration. It’s thought that not only is the increased need to save money in the economic downturn a factor, but there also seems to be a trend towards nostalgia with many people turning to mum’s old school recipes.
