There have been various press reports linking the rise in food costs to an increase in demand for electric breadmakers.
Electrical specialist Comet claims there is 57% year-on-year increase in sales of breadmakers as consumers look for ways to cut their weekly shopping bill. It also claims homemade bread costs approximately one third of the price of a standard shop bought loaf.
John Lewis have also released figures claiming a 31% increase in sales of breadmakers.
