National Mill Month
To celebrate our nation’s flour milling heritage, the Flour Advisory Bureau ran the first ever National Mill Month from October – November 2011.
Mills all around the country opened their doors so that visitors could find out more about how the flour you use is made. Without flour we wouldn’t have our daily bread, our great British staple packed full of goodness so love your loaf!
Although National Mill Month is now over, you can still find out about milling, flour and bread by clicking here and downloading the free National Mill Month Guide. Packed full of history, facts and figures, the National Mill Month Guide is a great insight into how flour reaches our kitchens.
Thanks to the skill of our millers, the variety of flours now available is immense and the National Mill Month Guide will give you the low down on which flour to choose for which recipe as well as giving you the inside track on some of the 200 breads packed full of goodness which you can now choose from. One of the nation’s feel good foods, bread is a great tasting food which is naturally low in sugar, lower in salt, low fat, calcium enriched and is a source of both protein and fibre.
