With so many different breads to choose from there are plenty to complement every meal occasion and to fit in with the way you live your life, whether you're on the move or staying at home. As a snack through the day or a munch at midnight, bread is the healthy, non-fattening, guilt-free food. So go on - indulge yourself!

  • Bread is a tasty food on its own - serve chunks of bread with a starter, or use to wrap around tasty fillings as party nibbles, like asparagus rolls. Serve different types of bread to go with different foods: e.g. walnut bread with cheese, ciabatta with pasta, rye bread with smoked fish or meats
  • Serve a basket of chunky bread with your meals. With so many different types of bread to choose from, you could offer a selection to suit each course at a dinner party.
  • Bread can be used as an ingredient e.g. cubes as toppings, slices for a savoury flan case, croutons in soups and salads, and crumbs as stuffings and thickeners in soups and dips.
  • Bread as a carrier for other foods e.g. pizza bases, bruschetta and crostini, pitta with dips and of course, the ever popular sandwich
  • Make a table centre-piece by hollowing out a large cottage loaf, and fill with a selection of sandwiches for a mid-day feast.
